Special controllers totaling 228 thousand sets were needed in the elevator industry in 2009. Most large elevator manufacturers use special controllers produced by themselves, with the application amount reaching about 140 thousand sets; while the amount of outsourcing special controllers is 89 thousand sets or so, key vendors of which are Shanghai STEP and Zhongxiu Technology and so on.
Specificities of special controllers are shown as follows:
1. Compared with PLC systems, control systems have lower total costs;
2. Special controllers use CANBUS communications with high speed and quick response;
3. Generally, special controllers are designed and produced by specialized vendors, with the floor panel and cabinet panel integrated. Elevator factories procure the complete elevator device supporting direct installation and without development;
4. System structure, wiring and debugging of special controllers are simpler than those of PLC.
Additionally, though environmental adaptability of embedded special controllers are weaker somewhat than that of PLC, service environments of passenger elevators are short of electromagnetic interference sources and in the meantime embedded special controllers are strengthened in electromagnetic interference protection which can completely meet the requirements of passenger elevators. Consequently, special controllers will trend to be a development tendency of future elevator control segment.
